In this TED Talk with Jacqueline Woodson we are told with great passion that reading must be slow and savored. Something that Woodson has loved and cherished since being a child, slowly tracing her finger beneath the words as she read them. Woodson tells us that stories are so important because they carry with them the heart of whoever is telling them, whether it's through writing or verbally. Coming from a background where reading was a very difficult thing to come by, she presses us with how important it is, how important it is to truly take in the story that is being told. Woodson does an excellent job of wrapping us up in her own story and she certainly convinced me to read a little slower next time.
