TED Talk: How Books Can Open Your Mind

In this TED Talk we get to hear Lisa Bu talk about how when she was just a small child she lost her opportunity to pursue her dreams. Her dreams were to become an Opera singer in China but alas, her parents wanted her to become an engineer, so her dreams were lost since she needed to begin training at such a young age and they never let her begin. This led to Lisa becoming an avid reader to learn things on her own. After reading the Bible and hearing the words "Honor Thy Father and Mother" she had an epiphany that she didn't need to just obey them blindly. Hungry to learn more and more she started reading comparative literature, reading books that paired well together to get a better understanding of the situation at hand. These books showed Lisa that even shattered dreams have a purpose in life, to show us passion and drive in our lives.
